Prominent Lawyer Departs Yisrael Beiteinu Party Ahead of Elections

Attorney Batya Kahana Dror announced her resignation from the Yisrael Beiteinu party on Sunday, after five years of membership. Kahana Dror, who is identified with the Religious Zionist movement, stated that she intends to continue her public and political activities, focusing on issues of religion and state. She expressed a desire to promote a vision of Israel as a Jewish, democratic, and liberal state, emphasizing 'more Judaism and less coercion.'

In parallel, reports emerged that Yossi Broodny, the mayor of Givat Shmuel and head of the Religious Zionist desk within Yisrael Beiteinu, will not be included in the party's list for the upcoming Knesset elections. Broodny's exclusion from the list comes despite his significant role within the party's religious Zionist faction.

Kahana Dror joined Yisrael Beiteinu in January 2021, initially placed at the 12th position on the party's list. For the 25th Knesset elections, she was promoted to the eighth position. In her resignation statement, she thanked the party for her time there and wished success to those working for a change in government, the conscription of Haredim, and their integration into Israeli society.
