Prominent Lawyer Departs Lieberman's Yisrael Beiteinu Party

Batya Kahana Dror, a lawyer and prominent figure, announced on Sunday her departure from the Yisrael Beiteinu party, stating she will not be included in the party's list for the upcoming 26th Knesset elections. The announcement comes just two days before the deadline for list submissions.

"Today I conclude a significant period of activity within the Yisrael Beiteinu party, and my face is towards the next challenges," Kahana Dror stated. She added, "I will continue with the mission that has accompanied me all my life: the struggle for the character of the State of Israel as a Jewish, democratic, and liberal state, with more Judaism and less coercion."

Kahana Dror further expressed her intention to continue contributing her experience in matters of religion and state to the public and political arena, working for Israel's future and prosperity. She thanked the party for the shared journey and wished success to those working for a change of government, the conscription of ultra-Orthodox men, and their integration into Israeli society.

Kahana Dror ran on the Yisrael Beiteinu list in the last two election cycles but did not enter the Knesset. In 2021, she was placed 12th on the list, and in the 2022 elections, she was ranked eighth.

This marks the second departure from Yisrael Beiteinu ahead of the elections. Last week, MK Sharon Nir announced she would not be running. Nir, who previously served as the IDF Chief of Staff's advisor on gender affairs and served in the Knesset for the party for the past four years, informed party leader Avigdor Lieberman of her decision to pursue a new path.
