Maccabi Netanya Coach Seeks Upgrades Amid Strong League Start

Maccabi Netanya, fresh off a significant victory against Beitar Jerusalem, is preparing to host Hapoel Haifa on Monday evening in the third round of the Israeli Premier League. Coach Roni Levy addressed the upcoming match at a press conference, emphasizing respect for Hapoel Haifa's recent strong performances, including in the Toto Cup.

"We are facing Hapoel Haifa, who have proven in recent rounds what a strong team they are," Levy stated. "We played a great game against Beitar Jerusalem, and continuity is no less important. At home with our fans, we will try to continue the momentum and win."

Levy acknowledged that while the team is generally healthy, with only a couple of players being "borderline," he is actively seeking reinforcements. "We need an upgrade because the league is tough and competitive. We will need a deep squad. We are working hard to find players who will upgrade us, not just players who will be along for the ride," he explained, adding that the current players are good and capable of fighting.

Midfielder Nadav Nidam echoed the coach's sentiments, stressing the team's focus on a game-by-game approach. "We talked all week that we are only in the second round, and we are looking from game to game. That's our approach," Nidam said. He also highlighted the importance of the home crowd, predicting they could provide a 10-15% boost in performance and urging fans to support the team through difficult moments.

Nidam also commented on his personal performance, stating he is focused on doing his job and helping his teammates rather than looking too far ahead. "I want us to win tomorrow against Hapoel Haifa, that's the most important thing," he concluded.
