France Arrests Three Suspected of Plotting Attacks on Jewish Community and ISIS Links
French authorities have arrested three men suspected of planning jihadist activities, including potential attacks against the Jewish community and an intention to join the Islamic State (ISIS) in Africa. The arrests followed an investigation by the domestic intelligence service (DGSI) and a formal probe by the national counter-terrorism prosecutor's office (PNAT) for conspiracy to commit terrorist acts and association with a terrorist organization.
The investigation was initiated in July after suspicious activity was detected on a WhatsApp group named "Soldiers of Allah." The case has expanded with the discovery of a possible link between one of the suspects and Jessica Bui, a 35-year-old woman arrested in the United States in August. Bui is accused of planning a bombing attack on the New York State Capitol building on behalf of ISIS, according to reports from RTL and AFP.
French authorities are currently assessing the operational scope of the cell and its international connections.
