New Maritime Education and Sports Center Opens in Nahariya
A new center for maritime education and sports, named in memory of Michael Strauss, was inaugurated on the Nahariya coastline in a festive ceremony. The center, which broke ground in December, aims to serve as a living legacy of Michael Strauss's passion for the sea and his values of giving, leadership, and free spirit, inspiring future generations of children and youth.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Raya Strauss Ben-Dror, Michael Strauss's family members, representatives from the "Sailing for Generations" association, Nahariya Mayor Ronen Merly, city council members, the Ministry of Education's Northern District Manager Dr. Orna Simhon, representatives from the Jewish Foundation, and executives from Bloomberg-Segal, along with many guests.
The 755-square-meter facility will host educational and values-based activities, promote maritime sports, and foster excellence, leadership, and a love for the sea among Nahariya's children and future generations. During school hours, it will be used by elementary school students for marine education, and in the afternoons, it will serve as a home for trainees from the sailing association. The event featured a musical performance by Ofir Avraham, a local resident and graduate of the Rimon School of Music.
