Israeli Ninja Warrior Star Gal Shiri Crowned World Champion

Gal Shiri, a prominent contestant from the Israeli reality show "Ninja Israel," has achieved a significant international victory, securing two gold medals and setting a world record at the Obstacle Course Racing (OCR) World Championships in China. OCR, a discipline derived from Ninja Warrior, is set to be included in the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

Shiri excelled in the 100-meter and 400-meter obstacle course events. He expressed his determination to compete in the Olympics, though he noted the Olympic format will feature a 70-meter course, differing from his specialties. "If there is an opportunity, I will do everything to be there and represent the State of Israel with the most honor I can," Shiri stated.

During the 100-meter competition, Shiri faced his twin brother, Shir, in the quarterfinals. Describing the close race, Gal said, "It went my way this time and of course I was very happy. He gave me a hug at the end. We always cheer each other on." He also mentioned that Shir performed better in the upcoming season of "Ninja Israel."

In the 400-meter final, Shiri achieved a world record, narrowly overtaking the American competitor in the final moments. "I knew I was capable of it, but it's one in a million that something like this happens," he remarked. Shiri emphasized Israel's status as a "ninja powerhouse," comparable to the United States, and highlighted the respect the country receives in the sport.

Looking ahead, Shiri aims to compete in further world and European championships, with aspirations to continue performing at the highest level and representing Israel with pride. He hinted at other undisclosed future projects.
