Two Injured, One Seriously, in Bus-Truck Collision Near Gilboa

Two people were injured, one seriously, in a head-on collision between a bus and a truck on Highway 675 near the Gilboa mountains on Sunday morning. Three firefighting crews from Afula worked to extract the bus driver, who was trapped inside his vehicle after the crash. The bus sustained severe damage and veered into a ditch, complicating rescue efforts. Firefighters freed the conscious driver after several minutes and handed him over to medical teams. The truck driver, described as seriously injured, was freed by passersby before firefighters arrived as he was not trapped. The fire operations commander at the scene, Michael Goldenberg, stated it was a head-on collision between two heavy vehicles. He noted that "fortunately, there were no passengers on the bus," adding that the incident could have resulted in many casualties if the bus had been carrying passengers. Goldenberg also pointed out that the accident occurred only about 150 meters from the site of a crash two days prior that killed two people and critically injured two others. Police have opened an investigation into the circumstances of the collision.
