Two Injured in Head-On Collision Near Gilboa, Site of Recent Fatal Crash

Two people were injured on Sunday morning in a head-on collision between a truck and a bus on Highway 675, at the foot of the Gilboa region. The truck driver sustained serious injuries, while the bus driver was trapped in his vehicle after the bus veered into a nearby ditch.

Three firefighting crews from the Afula station worked to extricate the bus driver, who was conscious when handed over to medical personnel. The bus sustained significant damage, and its position in the ditch complicated rescue efforts. Bystanders freed the truck driver before firefighters arrived, as he was not trapped.

Fire and Rescue Services confirmed that the bus was empty of passengers at the time of the crash. The incident occurred approximately 150 meters from the scene of another accident two days prior, where two people were killed and two others were severely injured.

The commander of the firefighting operations at the scene, Chief Fire Officer Michael Goldenberg, stated, "This was a head-on collision between two heavy vehicles. Fortunately, there were no passengers on the bus. Had there been passengers, this would have been a mass casualty incident." He noted the proximity to the previous fatal crash.
