Arab World Views Gadi Eisenkot as Ideal Israeli Premier Candidate

Experts suggest the Arab world views Gadi Eisenkot, a prominent Israeli political figure, as a more favorable candidate for prime minister than Benjamin Netanyahu. According to Middle East expert Mordechai Kedar, this perception stems from Eisenkot being seen as less assertive than Netanyahu. Kedar cited Eisenkot's past decisions, such as reducing the army's size and hesitating to enter Rafah, as reasons for this view.

In contrast, Kedar noted that the Arab world perceives Netanyahu as a leader capable of leveraging the United States against Iran. This ability to mobilize American support for Israel is seen as a reason for fear among Arab nations, making Eisenkot, from their perspective, the "ideal candidate."

Michael Milstein, a former head of the Palestinian desk at military intelligence, echoed concerns about the Arab world's intense focus on Israeli elections. He warned of potential significant unrest in Judea and Samaria before the vote, alongside anxieties about the normalization of the idea of 'transfer,' a concept referring to the expulsion or relocation of populations.

Milstein stated that Arab nations are closely monitoring the Israeli electoral campaign, expressing apprehension about these potential developments in the 50 days leading up to the election.
