Chabad Launches Nationwide Mezuzah Checks and Shofar Campaign

During the intermediate days of the holiday period, Chabad emissaries across Israel have launched a widespread initiative to check mezuzahs in Jewish homes, adhering to a directive from the Rebbe of Lubavitch. This campaign, part of the "Shofar Operation," aims to fulfill the Rebbe's instruction that checking mezuzahs will bring increased blessings. The emissaries are distributing informational materials and encouraging the public to have their mezuzahs examined, especially in preparation for the High Holy Days.

In addition to the mezuzah checks, Chabad has produced a new program titled "Voices in the Forest, The Spirit of Elul with a Hasidic Flavor," designed to explain the concept of repentance according to Hasidic teachings. Emissaries are also organizing special activities, including sending congregants on repentance tours.

The "Shofar Operation" also includes efforts to ensure that large numbers of Jews hear the shofar blown during the month of Elul and Rosh Hashanah. This year, the shofar will only be blown on the second day of Rosh Hashanah, but Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Ahronov, chairman of the youth wing of Chabad Hasidim, has set a goal to double the number of people who hear the shofar by deploying thousands of emissaries and followers.

Furthermore, Chabad will host "Open Synagogues" during Rosh Hashanah, where attendees from all backgrounds will receive guidance and explanations for the holiday prayers. Rabbi Ahronov expressed satisfaction with the growing activity of the emissaries, stating that their work reflects the Rebbe's blessings and their mission to prepare the world for the coming of the Messiah.
