Chabad Emissaries Launch Nationwide Mezuzah Check and Shofar Preparation Campaign

Chabad emissaries across Israel are initiating a large-scale public outreach campaign focused on checking mezuzahs, the small parchment scrolls containing biblical verses affixed to Jewish homes. This initiative is part of a special preparation for Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, which falls in September.

The campaign aims to ensure that as many Jewish households as possible have their mezuzahs properly affixed and kosher, a significant mitzvah (commandment) for Jewish homes. The emissaries are also preparing for a "Shofar Operation," a concerted effort to increase the number of people who will hear the sounding of the shofar, a ram's horn, on Rosh Hashanah.

"We are working to double the number of Jews who will merit to hear the shofar blast," stated representatives of the Chabad movement (Chassidim and Anash). The effort involves extensive outreach and educational activities leading up to the High Holidays, encouraging participation and observance.
