Hapoel Petah Tikva Sells Chipiyoka Songa to Portuguese Club for €700,000

Hapoel Petah Tikva has finalized the transfer of Zambian forward Chipiyoka Songa to Portuguese club Moreirense for €700,000. Songa, 21, has already arrived in Portugal and completed his medical examinations. Hapoel Petah Tikva will retain 20% of the player's future transfer rights.

The deal, brokered by agents Nir Amir and Nir Karin, faced significant delays and nearly collapsed before being salvaged through the efforts of both parties. Songa is the second Zambian player to move from Israel to Europe this year, following Kings Kangwa's transfer from Hapoel Be'er Sheva to Panathinaikos.

Songa began his career in Zambia before joining Sektzia Ness Ziona in Israel's second division in the summer of 2023, where he scored 8 goals in 29 games. He then moved to Hapoel Petah Tikva, contributing to their promotion to the top league. Last season, he netted seven goals and provided three assists in 25 appearances for the club.

Hapoel Petah Tikva expressed their gratitude for Songa's contributions, stating he was "much more than a player" and an integral part of their "amazing promotion season" and "fantastic season in the top league." The club highlighted his 14 goals and 17 assists during his tenure, emphasizing his positive energy and connection with the club and fans. They added that "our door will always be open" for him.
