Supporters Rally for Jafar Farah After Knesset List Withdrawal

A demonstration in support of Jafar Farah was held in Israel's Arab political sphere following his announcement to withdraw his candidacy for the second seat on the Democratic Front for Peace and Equality's Knesset list. The rally occurred days after a political and organizational crisis within the Front, stemming from allegations against Farah. The Communist Party and the Front addressed the claims in an official statement before Farah announced his withdrawal, stating his decision was made out of responsibility and to preserve the unity of the Joint List. The Front confirmed Farah informed its leadership of his decision, which was coordinated with party and Front bodies and leaders. He is expected to continue his political and social activities and support the Front, the Party, and the Joint List.

Knesset member Aida Touma-Suleiman stated in an interview that the dispute over Farah's case does not affect the Joint List and that it has overcome all difficulties. The demonstration takes place as the Front prepares to select a new candidate for the second seat, which Farah had won in internal elections. Previously, the Front and the Communist Party stated that a special team examined the allegations, not to prove or disprove them, but to study the implications and provide recommendations. Support for Farah in the public sphere coincides with ongoing internal discussions within the Front regarding the identity of the candidate for the second seat, amid calls to overcome the crisis and maintain the unity of the list for upcoming elections.
