Jaafar Farah Withdraws Knesset Candidacy to Support Joint List

The Democratic Front for Peace and Equality announced on Thursday that Jaafar Farah has decided to withdraw his candidacy for the second spot on the party's Knesset list. The party stated that Farah's decision stems from a sense of responsibility and a desire to support the Joint List, aiming to thwart attempts to undermine it. These attempts, the party claims, exploit allegations against Farah, which they have fully denied. Farah affirmed his commitment to continue his political and social activities to support the Front, the party, and the Joint List.

The Democratic Front praised Farah's move as a significant sacrifice demonstrating great responsibility and courage, referencing his past activism in youth and student movements and his role in establishing and managing civil society institutions, particularly the legal center "Musaawa." The party expressed deep appreciation for Farah's willingness to dedicate his energies to the Joint List and advance party work, wishing him a swift recovery from a recent health issue.

The party's national secretariat and central committee are scheduled to hold a joint meeting on Saturday to elect a new candidate for the second position, with the competition open to all members of the Front's national council.
