IDF Completes Hezbollah Complex Destruction in Beaufort Area Amid Escalation Risk

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) is finalizing the destruction of a significant Hezbollah underground complex in the Beaufort area of southern Lebanon. Elite units, including Egoz, Maglan, and Yahalom, have been operating covertly in the area for weeks to dismantle the facility, which is considered one of Hezbollah's three most important operational zones, alongside Beirut's Dahieh and the Beqaa Valley.

The operation, led by the 36th Division, is viewed as a major achievement in the ongoing conflict. The IDF is preparing for potentially sensitive days ahead, acknowledging the possibility of escalation as Hezbollah and Iran's reactions remain uncertain. The military has stated that there are no longer any live militants or Iranian personnel within the remaining tunnels.

To prevent further escalation and provide operational clarity, the IDF recently released documentation of the complex's interior. This move aims to present an accurate picture of the situation on the ground to adversaries across the border. Israel has reiterated its commitment to respecting existing agreements and will establish its forces along the "blue line" (the internationally recognized border) once the subterranean infrastructure is fully neutralized.
