Israel Returns Body of Palestinian Teen Detained for 9 Months
The Palestinian Civil Affairs Commission received the body of a teenager from Tubas in the northern occupied West Bank on Thursday, nine months after it was held by Israeli authorities. The commission announced that its teams took custody of the body of Jad Allah Jihad Juma'a Jad Allah, from Al-Far'a refugee camp in Tubas governorate. Israeli authorities had been detaining the body since November 16, 2023, and it will be buried according to his family's wishes. The commission stated it continues its efforts to retrieve the bodies of Palestinians held by Israel.
According to the National Campaign to Retrieve the Bodies of Martyrs, Israeli authorities are currently holding 799 Palestinian bodies, including 80 children and prisoners. This tally also includes bodies of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, with some identities and circumstances of detention undisclosed, the campaign reported. Since the start of the war in Gaza in October 2023, the Israeli military and settlers have intensified attacks in the occupied West Bank, including raids on Palestinian cities, towns, and camps, and assaults on Palestinians and their property.
