IDF Charges Terrorist for 2007 Murder of Israeli Civilian After 19 Years
The Israeli military prosecution filed a serious indictment against terrorist Shadi Jumaah, who was arrested in the center of Qalqilya shortly after his release from a Palestinian Authority prison. The indictment, submitted on Thursday to the military court, details Jumaah's direct involvement in the murder of Israeli civilian Ido Zoldan in November 2007, nearly two decades ago.
The indictment was made possible following Jumaah's arrest about six weeks ago in a joint operation by the IDF, Shin Bet, and the Combat Intelligence Collection Corps. Jumaah had been imprisoned by the Palestinian Authority since the attack until his recent release. The indictment reveals a meticulously planned ambush along a traffic route.
According to the indictment, on November 19, 2007, Jumaah and two accomplices devised a plan to carry out a targeted shooting attack against Jewish settlers traveling on main roads. They prepared weapons and a vehicle for the attack and escape, coordinating the details of the shooting. After logistical preparations, the trio scouted for vehicles driven by Israeli civilians, agreeing to confirm the victim's Jewish identity before opening fire.
Upon identifying Ido Zoldan's car, they closed in and one accomplice fired at close range, killing Zoldan. The terrorists immediately fled the scene. The prosecution accuses Jumaah of "intentional joint causing of death," equivalent to murder.
