Yaron Zelekha Open to Coalition with Yair Golan Despite Criticism

Professor Yaron Zelekha, a prominent Israeli economist, has stated he is open to forming a political coalition with Yair Golan, leader of the 'Democrats' party, despite sharp criticism of Golan's past remarks about IDF soldiers. Zelekha expressed his willingness to "go to hell and cooperate with the devil" to lower the cost of living, indicating that his focus on economic issues transcends political disagreements.

In an interview with Noy Bar on Channel 14's "Yoman Tzaharaim" (Midday Journal), Zelekha elaborated that while he "despises" Golan's comments regarding IDF soldiers, this does not constitute a red line for potential coalition cooperation. He emphasized that he does not boycott fellow Jews and has previously collaborated with left-wing figures like Zehava Galon and Shelly Yachimovich on specific issues.

Zelekha also extended an invitation to Ofer Winter and Yoaz Hendel to join him politically, citing internal polls suggesting a joint run could secure nine Knesset seats. He asserted that ego is not a factor and that achieving the top position is not his primary goal, urging them to join him immediately to finalize an agreement.
