Israel to Return Five Prisoners to Lebanon as Goodwill Gesture
Israel is set to return five Lebanese prisoners to Lebanon on September 3rd as a "goodwill gesture" to advance ongoing negotiations between Jerusalem and Beirut, mediated by the United States. The move aims to facilitate progress in the talks, which Israeli media reports are focused on ending the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah.
A subsequent round of consultations is scheduled for late September in Rome. Saudi television channel Al-Hadath reported that one of the five prisoners to be returned is Malek Kamal Razi.
The transfer of prisoners is expected to occur at the Naqoura crossing on the Israeli-Lebanese border. This decision follows a meeting between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and U.S. Ambassadors to Lebanon and Israel, Michel Issa and Mike Huckaby, who are involved in the U.S.-mediated direct negotiations.
