Aviel Cohen, a married yeshiva student and member of a study hall in Kfar Abraham, Petah Tikva, was sentenced on Tuesday to 14 days in military prison. Cohen studied at Be'er HaTalmud Yeshiva. His detention is part of the wider dispute over the arrest of yeshiva students.
In response, the Jerusalem Faction, led by Rabbi Tzvi Friedman, announced demonstrations at several locations across Israel on Wednesday. The protests are being organized as part of its campaign against the arrest of yeshiva students.
Separately, and in an unusual move, the Gur Hasidic dynasty said it will hold a protest rally on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. outside Prison 10. The rally was called after the arrest of a young Gur Hasidic man.
The Gur event is expected to be led by the Rebbe's sons and the dynasty's rabbis, with thousands of Hasidim expected to attend.
