Maccabi Tel Aviv will enter the Europa League qualifying rounds after finishing its season with the State Cup title, won at the expense of Hapoel Be'er Sheva. The draw for the second qualifying round takes place on Wednesday, and the Israeli club already knows the range of possible opponents it could face.
Despite being seeded, Maccabi is facing a difficult list. Among the most notable possible rivals are strong Turkish side Besiktas and Twente, which features Stuy Lamkin. Other possible opponents include Norway's Tromso, Ukraine's Dynamo Kyiv, Switzerland's St. Gallen, and Sweden's Hammarby. Additional opponents will be determined from the winners of the first qualifying round.
Maccabi Tel Aviv must get through three rounds to reach the Europa League league phase, two qualifying rounds and a playoff round. If it is eliminated from the Europa League, it will get another chance in the Conference League, where it would need to survive only two qualifying rounds to reach a league stage in any European competition.
The team's first match is set for July 23, with the return leg on July 30. The qualifying campaign ends on August 27 with the second leg of the playoff round.
