Maccabi Tel Aviv Pursues Nigerian Winger Elijah Adebayo

Maccabi Tel Aviv is actively strengthening its squad, with owner Mitch Goldhar reportedly overseeing significant transfer activity. Following the recent signings of Israeli national team star Gabi Kancepolsky and English right-back James Tavernier, the club has submitted a formal offer for 19-year-old Nigerian winger Elijah Adebayo. Adebayo currently belongs to French club Troyes, part of the City Football Group, but has struggled to adapt in France and has been training in England.

With the transfer window closed in the UK, Adebayo faces a choice between Maccabi Tel Aviv and offers from the Turkish league. His contract with Troyes runs until 2030. The young talent began his career in Nigerian youth academies before moving to Europe at 18, signing with Sheriff Tiraspol in Moldova.

At Sheriff Tiraspol, Adebayo scored notable goals in European qualifiers and helped the team win the domestic cup. He was sold to Troyes in September for a reported €3 million. In France, he primarily played as a right winger, making 13 appearances across all competitions, scoring one goal and providing one assist during Troyes' promotion season to the top division.
