Maccabi Tel Aviv Makes Offer for Nigerian Winger Elijah Adebayo

Israeli football club Maccabi Tel Aviv has submitted an offer for 19-year-old Nigerian winger Elijah Adebayo, who currently plays for French club Troyes. Adebayo, who has a contract with Troyes until 2030, has struggled to establish himself in France after joining from Sheriff Tiraspol.

Adebayo began his career in Nigerian youth academies before moving to Europe at 18. He signed with Sheriff Tiraspol in February 2025, helping them win the cup and impressing in UEFA Europa League and Conference League qualifiers with goals against Utrecht and Anderlecht. He was subsequently sold to Troyes for €3 million.

However, Adebayo has had limited playing time at Troyes, making 10 appearances in the second division and three in the cup. He scored one goal in the cup and provided one assist in the league across 13 total appearances. Troyes, which is part of the City Football Group, was promoted to Ligue 1 easily.

Adebayo had been training in England and was considered for several Championship clubs, but the transfer window closed before any move could materialize. He also has offers from the Turkish league in addition to Maccabi Tel Aviv's bid.
