Israeli Public Broadcaster Reveals 2026-27 Slate, Eyes Netflix Deal

The Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation, Kan, has unveiled its programming lineup for the 2026-2027 season, highlighting new series, returning favorites, and entertainment shows. A significant development is an agreement with Netflix that will bring Kan content to a global audience, with revenues expected to fund new original Israeli productions.

Among the returning hits is the sixth season of the popular comedy "Checkout," which will feature a special episode centered on election night in Israel. The acclaimed spy thriller "Tehran" will also return for its fourth season, continuing the story of Tamar Rabinyan (played by Niv Sultan) as she faces new threats in Iran and navigates regional power struggles.

In the documentary realm, "The One, The Next Generation" will explore the experiences of fighter pilots and events following the October 7th attacks, the subsequent war, and strikes in Iran, led by Sima Kadmon. The satirical comedy "The Simple Ones" is set for a second season, following its success.

A new reality show, "Double or Nothing," hosted by Agam Rodberg, will feature couples competing to grow their money through business ventures, with a top prize of 250,000 shekels. The quiz show "The Chase" will air its tenth season with Hila Korach and its team of "chasers."

Kan Educational will launch "Little Bloom," a spin-off of "Karamel" focusing on the childhood of the villainous Mrs. Bloom. Kan also confirmed its continued collaboration with Keshet and Teddy Productions for "The Next Star" to select Israel's Eurovision 2027 representative, with Kan broadcasting the semifinals and final in May 2027.
