Israeli Public Broadcaster Kan Unveils Ambitious 2024-2025 Programming Slate

The Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation (Kan) has announced its programming lineup for the upcoming year, featuring a diverse range of new and returning series, documentaries, and reality shows. Notably, Kan will launch its first-ever reality competition, "Double the Money," hosted by Agam Rodberg, where couples compete to double their investment through business ventures for a chance to win 250,000 shekels. The broadcaster also confirmed new seasons for popular shows including "Tehran," "Kupa Rashit" (The Regulars), and "Ha'achat" (The One), alongside a sixth season of "Kupa Rashit" which will include a special episode airing on election night.

Drama offerings will include "Ha'Pashut'a" (The Simple Ones) returning for a second season, a new sketch series "Anashim ShePagash'ti" based on a book of the same name, and "Ha'Akeda" (The Binding), a thriller about the investigation into the murder of an Arab teenager. "Anashim Kmo'anu" (People Like Us), created by Noa Yadlin, explores the clash of ideals and identity as a Tel Aviv couple moves to the city's south side. The fourth season of "Tehran" is also set to air, following a production incident in Greece where a producer was found deceased in her hotel room.

Documentary highlights include "Der'i," an investigative series on the political career and influence of Aryeh Deri, and "Ha'Achath (The Next Generation)," which will cover the events of October 7th and subsequent operations from the perspective of the 'One' squadron. Other documentaries will delve into the "Irangate" scandal and feature investigative programs like "Zman Emeth" (Real Time) and "Doh Rolnik" with Guy Rolnik.

Kan will also host the Eurovision Song Contest in 2027, with preliminary dates set for May 11th, 13th, and 15th in Burgas, Bulgaria. One semi-final is expected to fall on Israel's Memorial Day, prompting Kan to request participation in the second semi-final from the European Broadcasting Union. Programming in Arabic will include the documentary series "Masar (Journey)" and the talk show "Scoopy." Kan Educational will premiere "Little Bloom," a spin-off of "Karamel," and "Yes, The Deputy," a series about a teenage activist.

Furthermore, Kan is expanding its collaboration with Netflix, with several Kan productions, including "Kupa Rashit," set to stream on the platform internationally. The broadcaster also announced new seasons for various entertainment shows such as "Ma SheTegidu," "Sipurim Me'hakur'sa," "Ha'Merdaf," and "Ha'Zira."
