Israel Military Reopens Popular Arava Hiking Route After Summer Closure
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that Route 10 in the Arava region, near the border, will reopen to hikers starting Thursday. The route, located in the Paran Regional Brigade sector, will be accessible only on Fridays and Saturdays between 8:30 AM and 4:00 PM, running from Azuz to Harif. This marks a return to its regular schedule, differing from the summer period when it was also open on Thursdays.
However, training exercises will continue in southern Israel's firing zones, keeping them closed to the public on weekends. Access to Route 10 requires hikers to present identification and register at the entrance, with no prior coordination needed. The IDF stated the route's reopening is part of a return to routine operations.
