IDF Opens Route 10 for Civilian Access in Southern Israel This Summer

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that starting today until August 29, 2026, Route 10 in the Paran Brigade area will be open to civilians and tourists during the summer months. This desert route, considered the most sought-after in the region, will be accessible on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The open section extends from Metzpor Bar Lev to Checkpoint 10/12.

However, there are exceptions for two Thursdays in mid-July, July 16 and July 23, when the route will remain closed to tourists and open only on Fridays and Saturdays of those weekends. Entry to the route does not require prior coordination but is contingent on presenting valid identification and registering at security checkpoints.

The IDF emphasized that military training exercises will continue intensively in various firing zones in both southern and northern Israel throughout the weekends. Consequently, these firing zones in the south will remain completely closed to visitors. The military urged the public to act responsibly by avoiding restricted areas to ensure the safety of both civilians and security forces as they carry out their operational duties.
