Biala Ostrova Rebbe Passes Away in Manhattan at 61
The Grand Rabbi of Biala Ostrova, Rabbi Yitzchak Shlomo Rabinowitz, passed away on Monday in a Manhattan hospital at the age of 61 after a period of illness. His followers and many others had prayed for his recovery.
The Rebbe led his Hasidic community in the Givat Shaul neighborhood of Jerusalem, serving as a spiritual leader and guide to hundreds. His passing has left his family, followers, and students in deep mourning.
He was the son of Rabbi David Matityahu Rabinowitz, the Rebbe of Biala Bnei Brak, and the son-in-law of Rabbi Avraham Shlomo Biderman of Lelov. His life was marked by significant personal tragedies, including the death of his youngest daughter at 23 in a severe bus accident in 2016, followed by the passing of his wife a few months later. In early 2024, he also lost his son, Rabbi Moshe Mordechai Rabinowitz, at the age of 36.
His brothers are the Rebbes of Biala Bnei Brak, Biala Bet Shemesh, and Biala Borough Park. His brothers-in-law are the Rebbes of Seret Vizhnitz and Shidlovtza.
The funeral procession will depart on Tuesday at 4:00 PM from the Biala Ostrova Hasidic synagogue on David HaReuveni Street 1 in Givat Shaul, Jerusalem, and proceed to the Biala section of the Mount of Olives for burial.
