Thousands Mourn Rebbe of Biala Ostrova in Jerusalem Funeral

Thousands of mourners attended the funeral procession Tuesday for Rabbi Yitzchak Meir Horowitz, the Rebbe of Biala Ostrova, who passed away in Manhattan, USA, at the age of 61 following a severe medical event. His death shocked his followers and admirers.

Upon the arrival of his casket in Israel, the funeral procession began at his synagogue on David HaReuveni Street in Jerusalem. His brother, the Rebbe of Biala Bnei Brak, delivered the first eulogy, followed by other brothers and rabbis who mourned the significant loss.

A particularly poignant scene unfolded as students, whom the Rebbe had deeply connected with, refused to be comforted and wept uncontrollably, falling onto his bier in a heartbreaking farewell.

The procession continued to the Mount of Olives cemetery, where he was laid to rest in the family plot of the Biala dynasty. The Rebbe of Seret Vizhnitz, his brother-in-law, led the mourners.

Following the burial, the grieving Rebbes returned to the house of mourning for a meal of consolation and to begin the week of Shiva. Sources indicate that the Rebbe of Biala Bnei Brak engaged in a lengthy private discussion with the deceased Rebbe's only son, Rabbi Yechiel Yehoshua. It is widely believed within the Hasidic community that they discussed the future leadership of the community, with the son expected to be formally installed as the new Rebbe shortly after the Shiva period concludes.
