Biala-Ostrov Rebbe Dies in New York at 61 After Illness

The Rebbe of Biala-Ostrov, Rabbi Avraham Yerahmiel, who resided in the Givat Shaul neighborhood of Jerusalem, passed away in New York City at the age of 61. He had been hospitalized in critical condition in a Manhattan hospital following a severe medical event. The Rebbe was in the United States to strengthen his institutions and connect with followers when his health suddenly deteriorated.

Born in 1965, he was the son of the Rebbe of Biala-Bnei Brak and inherited a legacy of Torah and Hasidism from his distinguished lineage. After his marriage to the daughter of the Rebbe of Lelov, he established his Beit Midrash, "Biala-Ostrov," in Jerusalem. He was known for his dedication to teaching, inspiring his followers, and establishing religious centers in various U.S. cities, including Manhattan, Los Angeles, and Miami.

The Rebbe endured significant personal tragedies throughout his life, including the loss of his wife to illness and two of his children. His daughter died in a severe bus accident about a decade ago, and his eldest son passed away suddenly six months prior to his own death at the age of 36.

Despite these hardships, the Rebbe continued to lead his community with resilience and devotion. His followers held prayer gatherings for his recovery during his hospitalization in Manhattan, but their prayers were ultimately unfulfilled.

His funeral procession will depart from his Beit Midrash in Jerusalem and proceed to the Mount of Olives for burial among his ancestors. He is survived by several brothers who lead other Biala Hasidic courts and his brothers-in-law, who are also Rebbes.
