Three Knesset Members Depart Yesh Atid Ahead of Elections

As the deadline for submitting Knesset lists approaches, the Yesh Atid party is experiencing significant departures. Three Members of Knesset announced their withdrawal from the party's upcoming election slate within the last 24 hours. MK Debi Biton confirmed on Tuesday that she would not be included in the next Knesset list, stating she had informed party leader Yair Lapid of her decision last Thursday. She expressed satisfaction with her four years in the Knesset and pledged to continue working for the party's values and public service.

Biton's announcement followed similar declarations from MKs Mickey Levy and Meir Cohen on Monday. Levy stated that he and Lapid agreed he would not be on the list, though Lapid asked him to serve as head of the party's tribunal, a role he accepted. Levy, a founding member of Yesh Atid since 2011, affirmed his continued commitment to the party and its mission.

Cohen, also a founding member, explained his decision to step aside for the next generation of party leaders after 25 years in education and 23 years in politics, including two terms as mayor and two as Welfare Minister. He reiterated his belief in Yesh Atid's values and its potential to lead Israel.

These departures come as Yesh Atid, which merged with Benny Gantz's "The National Camp" party, faces internal challenges. Reports suggest that Lapid may only secure five to six seats for his party in the upcoming elections.
