Another Knesset Member Departs Yesh Atid Party

Member of Knesset Debi Biton announced on Tuesday to Yesh Atid party leader Yair Lapid that she will not be running for the upcoming Knesset. This departure follows a series of exits from the party in recent months.

In a statement posted on social media, Biton explained her decision, stating, "After consideration, I informed Yair Lapid last Thursday of my decision not to put myself forward for candidacy in the forming list of Yesh Atid for the upcoming Knesset." She expressed satisfaction with her four years in the Knesset, highlighting her contributions to legislation and public advocacy.

Biton emphasized that she remains committed to Yesh Atid's values and its members, stating, "I am not parting with Yesh Atid, with the people, and with our shared path. I will continue to believe in the values that led us, to work for them, and to be part of public action going forward." She thanked Lapid for his trust and the opportunity to serve within the party.

Biton's departure adds to a growing list of lawmakers leaving Yesh Atid. Boaz Toporovsky, a party founder, announced his retirement from politics in June, followed by Ron Katz in July. This month, Yoav Segalovitz announced he was leaving to join Mansour Abbas's Ra'am party, and Elazar Stern left to join Gadi Eisenkot's "Yisrael" party. Earlier on Tuesday, it was reported that Member of Knesset Meir Cohen decided not to run on the "Be'ahdut" list, a joint venture of Naftali Bennett and Yair Lapid. Yesterday, Member of Knesset Mickey Levy also announced an agreement with Lapid not to be included on the Yesh Atid list, though he will remain with the party as its tribunal head.
