Trump Says Next Phase of Iran Deal Will Be Easier
President Donald Trump said in a meeting with Qatar’s Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on the sidelines of the G7 summit in France that the agreement with Iran has been completed and is expected to succeed. He said the deal is now moving into a second stage that, in his view, will be easier than the first.
Trump described the arrangement as a “fair and good” deal and stressed that the United States is not putting any money into Iran. He said Washington has no obligation to invest in the country.
He also said the U.S. retains the right to act in Iran in the future if he decides to do so, adding that there is no financial commitment tied to that option.
