Micha'el Shemesh Says Bennett-Lapid Alliance Is Under Strain
Political correspondent Micha'el Shemesh said on Sunday night that, because of falling poll numbers, former prime minister Naftali Bennett is considering ending his political partnership with Yair Lapid.
Speaking Monday morning on Galey Yisrael, Shemesh said he does not think such a split is likely. “I do not believe this has much chance of happening,” he said. “It is not that if they separate now Bennett will surge in the polls. It is clear to everyone that not only will he not surge, he will weaken even more.”
Shemesh added that the very fact the option is being examined and discussed says something about the state of the party. According to him, there are disagreements and clashes between campaign managers, which reflect internal tensions behind the scenes.
