Lapid Rejects Rift Rumors With Bennett, Says Alliance Will Win Elections
Yair Lapid responded on Wednesday morning to reports that Naftali Bennett was considering splitting from him in their new political partnership. In a tweet, Lapid said what he called the "poison machine" was spreading claims that "Lapid and Bennett are considering separating" through anonymous sources and fake news.
Lapid said, "Bennett and I decided that this time we respond." He referred to remarks at a press conference denying the rumors and added, "I double it: not only am I completely at peace with this union, it will also save the State of Israel and win the elections."
He said that was exactly what their opponents feared, describing the partnership as a link between the political center and the liberal right, and, more than that, as a reunion of "two brothers" who had already defeated them once before.
