Man Charged with Threatening to Bomb Sites, Target Netanyahu

Mahmoud Abd Elmejid, 27, has been indicted on 14 counts of threats and assault, including allegations of threatening to detonate explosives across Israel and near Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's residence. According to the indictment, Abd Elmejid made multiple calls to the police's 100 hotline in early August, identifying himself and threatening police officers, Jews, Arabs, and the Prime Minister. In one call, he stated, "Less than ten minutes there will be a big explosion, I put a device near Bibi Netanyahu's house." He also issued an ultimatum for all Jews to leave the country by 7 PM and demanded the release of all prisoners within an hour, warning of "big trouble."

During the calls, Abd Elmejid claimed to be armed with an M16 rifle and a pistol, stating he was waiting for police in the Ilut junction. He explicitly told the call-takers, "I am threatening you," and "I want to finish you off, I am waiting for you."

In addition to the phone threats, Abd Elmejid is accused of assaulting a passenger on a bus in Haifa on the same morning. The indictment details that around 6:17 AM, near the "Halisa" station, he approached a passenger, brandished a can, grabbed him by his shirt, and pulled him to the floor. When the passenger stood up, Abd Elmejid allegedly pulled his arm forcefully, causing him to fall again.

The indictment also includes threats to detonate explosives in the cities of Haifa, Nazareth, and Tel Aviv.
