Man Indicted for Bomb Threat Against Netanyahu, Assaults

A serious indictment has been filed against Mahmoud Abdelmajid, 28, from I'billin, who allegedly made 14 calls to the police emergency number 100 in a single night, threatening to carry out terror attacks. During the calls, which began after midnight on August 12, the defendant identified himself and threatened to harm Jews, Arabs, and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. In one call, he claimed to have planted an explosive device near Netanyahu's home in Caesarea and stated he possessed an M-16 rifle and a pistol, waiting for police to arrive so he could attack them.

In another call, he threatened to detonate an explosive device at the Haifa police station and claimed an explosion would occur within ten minutes, with the device already planted. These threats prompted a significant police response to locate and neutralize the perceived threat. Later that night, Abdelmajid traveled to Haifa via public transportation.

While on a bus in Haifa, the defendant violently assaulted another passenger, taking a metal pipe from the bus, hitting the passenger, knocking them down, and stripping them. He also attacked another passenger before exiting the bus and returning to I'billin, where he was apprehended by police.

During his interrogation at the Nazareth police station, Abdelmajid refused to be questioned by a Jewish investigator, demanding only an Arab investigator. The indictment includes 14 counts of threats, along with charges of assault, causing actual bodily harm, and malicious damage. The prosecution is seeking his detention until the end of legal proceedings.
