Man Arrested After Threatening Bombings, Netanyahu's Home

Mahmoud Abd Elmajeed, a 28-year-old from Ilut, was arrested by Nazareth police after making 14 threatening phone calls to emergency services overnight, including claims of planting a bomb near Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's home in Caesarea. Elmajeed has been indicted on charges including threats, assault, and malicious damage to a vehicle.

According to police, Elmajeed called emergency services after midnight, identifying himself and threatening to carry out attacks against Jews, Arabs, and the prime minister. He claimed to be armed and waiting in Ilut for police to arrive so he could attack them. He also threatened to detonate a bomb at the Haifa police station, warning people to flee.

During the calls, Elmajeed also described traveling to Haifa via the Metronit public transport, where he assaulted a passenger by a door, knocking them down and stripping them during a struggle. He then attacked another passenger before returning to Ilut.

Upon his arrest, Elmajeed refused to be interrogated by a Jewish investigator, demanding to speak only with an Arab investigator. Police emphasized the seriousness of his actions, which tied up significant resources and personnel across two police districts, and stated they would pursue all legal avenues against violence and threats to civilian life.

Elmajeed's legal representative, Aboudi Fahoum of the Public Defense, stated that they would respond fully after reviewing the investigation materials and would oppose pre-trial detention, seeking suitable rehabilitation for the defendant.
