IDF Announces Senior Command Appointments, Including Central Command Chief
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced a series of new appointments for senior officers on Monday, following approval from Defense Minister Yoav Gallant. The most prominent appointment is Major General Dudo Bar Kalippa, who will assume command of the IDF's Central Command, replacing Major General Avi Blot.
The decision to appoint Bar Kalippa had previously generated controversy. Three weeks prior, Defense Minister Israel Katz announced the planned appointment during an interview on the "HaPatriotim" program, while simultaneously issuing sharp criticism of the outgoing commander, Major General Blot.
