Israeli Security Officials Deny Specific Threat to Yair Netanyahu in Miami Despite Son's Claims

Israeli security sources have clarified that the intelligence regarding a potential threat to Yair Netanyahu, son of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, while in Miami was general and did not indicate an imminent or specific attack. The information referred broadly to intentions against senior Israeli figures rather than a concrete plot, according to a report by Nir Dvori. As a precaution, security around Yair Netanyahu was increased and he was advised to return to Israel. However, officials rejected reports of a last-minute foiled attack or the arrest of a terrorist cell in Miami.

These clarifications came after a Newsmax report in the United States claimed that Iranian agents were surveilling Yair Netanyahu’s movements and residence in the Hallandale Beach area. The Israeli intelligence reportedly identified the threat as early as December and warned local authorities, prompting Netanyahu to leave his belongings and fly back to Israel.

In parallel, Yair Netanyahu sent a complaint letter to the Israeli police commissioner, Shin Bet chief, and Attorney General demanding a criminal and security investigation against Haaretz journalist Uri Misgav. He accused Misgav of publishing details about his Miami residence, security arrangements, and routines, which allegedly reached hostile entities and facilitated an assassination attempt. The letter claims that an Iranian intelligence-backed terrorist cell reached the doorstep of Yair Netanyahu’s Miami home and attempted a sudden targeted killing, which was prevented thanks to the vigilance of his Shin Bet bodyguards.

Yair Netanyahu’s lawyer, Uriel Nizri, called for an investigation and the arrest of Misgav, arguing that the published information provided the enemy with a "roadmap" that endangered Yair Netanyahu and his security team. Israeli security officials, however, maintain that no such direct attack or cell arrest occurred, emphasizing the intelligence was general and no immediate threat was neutralized in Miami.
