Ishay Levi's Son Urges Avoiding Addiction in Emotional Message on Father's Struggle

Shir Levi, son of the late Israeli singer Ishay Levi, recently spoke out about his father's long battle with drug addiction. In a heartfelt message shared during a radio interview with Moshiko Stern, Shir emphasized that he never judged his father or mother for their struggles, acknowledging addiction as a symptom of deeper personal challenges. He urged others to stay away from drugs, calling addiction "the most destructive thing there is."

Shir explained that addiction is not the root problem but rather a consequence of unresolved emotional wounds, encouraging those affected to seek healing at the source. He concluded by stressing the importance of children having both parents present in their lives.

Ishay Levi, a prominent figure in Israeli Mizrahi music, passed away two months ago at age 63 due to complications from COPD, a condition diagnosed in 2005. His addiction began after his rapid rise to fame, as he struggled with anxiety and sudden public attention. Despite multiple failed rehabilitation attempts, he temporarily overcame addiction in 1992 but relapsed two years later. Levi ultimately achieved lasting sobriety by the late 2000s, though his career was impacted by his struggles.
