A recent survey by the Retail Research Institute compared the prices of a basket of 148 products across seven online grocery platforms as of August 4, 2026. The study found that Rami Levy offered the lowest prices overall, with Carrefour trailing by less than 5%. In contrast, Wolt Market was the most expensive, with prices over 40% higher than Rami Levy, potentially costing households more than 10,000 shekels annually.

The price differences accumulate from numerous small gaps rather than a single product. For example, sweet corn kernels were priced at 3.90 shekels at Victory and 11.50 shekels at Wolt Market, a 195% difference. Similarly, dry hummus was 3.90 shekels at Rami Levy versus 10.90 shekels at Wolt Market. Larger family-sized products also showed significant price disparities, such as frozen broccoli costing 12.90 shekels at Carrefour and 29.90 shekels at Wolt Market, and chicken schnitzel fingers priced at 22.30 shekels at Rami Levy compared to 46.90 shekels at Wolt Market.

The report emphasizes that comparing entire shopping baskets is more effective than comparing individual products, as stores may be cheaper in some categories and more expensive in others. It also highlights the importance of managing household consumption to avoid buying unnecessary quantities, even if items are on sale. Online shopping can aid savings by allowing consumers to track cumulative prices and compare stores, but only if shoppers come prepared with a list and an understanding of their actual needs.

While Wolt Market offers convenience and speed, its higher prices make it less economical for large household purchases.
