Super-Pharm Overcharges for Basic Goods, Investigation Finds

An investigation by C14 has revealed that the Israeli pharmacy chain Super-Pharm significantly overcharges for basic hygiene and cleaning products compared to other pharmacies and major food retailers. The report highlights that consumers pay substantially more for everyday items at Super-Pharm, contributing to the high cost of living.

The investigation identified five specific products where the price difference is particularly notable. For instance, a 2-liter bottle of Sano 'Ritzpaz Plus' cockroach-repellent floor cleaner costs NIS 28.90 at Super-Pharm, while it is available for NIS 23.50 at BePharm. Similarly, a 3x50g pack of Sano 'Active Bleach' toilet bowl cleaner is priced at NIS 16.90 at Super-Pharm versus NIS 14.90 at BePharm.

Further examples include Dove's 750ml cucumber and green tea scented body wash, sold for NIS 28.90 at Super-Pharm compared to NIS 15 at BePharm. A 700ml Finok 3-in-1 men's shampoo, shower gel, and face soap is priced at NIS 17.90 at Super-Pharm, whereas BePharm sells it for NIS 10. Finally, a 700ml Karma classic scented body wash costs NIS 19.90 at Super-Pharm, compared to NIS 17.50 at BePharm.

C14 concludes that purchasing from Super-Pharm represents a systematic overcharging rather than isolated incidents, presenting an unfavorable deal for Israeli consumers already grappling with rising living costs. Super-Pharm has not yet responded to requests for comment.
