Super-Pharm Overcharges Consumers on Essential Products, Investigation Finds
An investigation by C14 has revealed that the Israeli pharmacy chain Super-Pharm significantly overcharges for basic hygiene and cleaning products compared to other pharmacies and major food chains. The report highlights that consumers pay tens to hundreds of percent more for certain items at Super-Pharm, contributing to the high cost of living.
The investigation compared prices of five daily-use products, finding substantial discrepancies. For example, Huggies Little Baby diapers cost NIS 38.90 at Super-Pharm, versus NIS 29.90 at BePharm. Similarly, Huggies Freedom Dry diapers were priced at NIS 53.90 at Super-Pharm, compared to NIS 44.90 at BePharm.
Other items also showed significant price differences. Nutrilion formula was NIS 69.90 at Super-Pharm and NIS 64.90 at BePharm. Nutrilion Larepollex was priced at NIS 123.10 at Super-Pharm, while BePharm sold it for NIS 94.90. Even Avent pacifiers were marked up to NIS 55.90 at Super-Pharm, from NIS 30 at BePharm.
C14 asserts that these price differences demonstrate a systematic overcharging by Super-Pharm, presenting an unfavorable deal for Israeli consumers already grappling with rising living costs. Super-Pharm had not yet responded to the findings at the time of reporting.
