Massive Counter-Terror Operation Launched Near Jerusalem

Security forces have initiated a large-scale counter-terrorism operation in the Jerusalem envelope area, involving hundreds of combatants. The operation, codenamed "Combined Fist," targets terrorist activities in the Palestinian towns of Anata and Shuafat, located just minutes from central Jerusalem. The objective is to preemptively thwart planned attacks during the upcoming Jewish holidays.

The operation is guided by intelligence from the Shin Bet and special intelligence units, with the goal of apprehending dozens of wanted individuals. Special forces, known as "The Gideons," are reportedly the first responders, operating undercover to infiltrate and gather intelligence before the main assault. Following their lead, hundreds of Border Police and IDF soldiers have cordoned off the area.

Intelligence indicates that terrorists in the region were planning attacks, prompting security officials to act proactively rather than reactively. The forces are conducting raids on the homes of wanted individuals, searching for weapons, and pursuing terror targets. The operation is being jointly commanded by the commander of the Jerusalem envelope region, Superintendent Eran Levy, and the commander of the Binyamin brigade, Colonel Anan Faris.

At least 117 targets, many identified with Hamas and flagged by the Shin Bet, are reportedly on the agenda. The forces are moving through narrow alleys, conducting door-to-door searches, and engaging in pursuits. The operation is expected to continue as forces race against time to apprehend the suspects before they can carry out their plans.
