Family of Missing Ethiopian-Israeli Girl Criticizes Authorities After 900 Days
More than 900 days after 15-year-old Heimenot Kasao disappeared in Safed, her family has broken their silence, expressing deep frustration with Israeli authorities. Her father and sister sharply criticized the police and government, claiming that if Heimenot had been a white girl, the state would have mobilized all resources to find her. They accuse the authorities of neglect and insufficient effort in the ongoing search.
Heimenot's father, Yeros Kasao, told Maariv, "Heimi, we are turning the world upside down for you. Don't think we have forgotten you or that we don't love you. We are waiting for you to continue living. Don't be afraid of the dark; God is protecting you." The family’s emotional appeal highlights their enduring hope and pain.
It was also revealed that a formal request has been made to the head of the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) to assist in the investigation. The case has drawn public attention to concerns about potential disparities in how missing persons cases are handled in Israel based on ethnicity.
Heimenot Kasao vanished in Safed over two and a half years ago, and despite ongoing efforts, her whereabouts remain unknown. The family continues to demand greater commitment from the authorities to find her and bring closure to their ordeal.
