Israeli Singer Yoval Mizrahi Uses Fake Parking Tickets to Promote New Song

The story · English

In recent days, many people across Israel were surprised to find fake parking tickets placed on their car windshields. The tickets stated that parking was prohibited and demanded a 500 shekel fine, directing recipients to scan a QR code for payment details. However, scanning the code revealed a link to a new song titled "Scratch on the Heart" by emerging Israeli singer Yoval Mizrahi.

Mizrahi, who signed with Eli Golan's Liam Productions last year, defended the unconventional marketing tactic in an interview with Mako. She acknowledged mixed reactions, saying many praised the creative approach while others were upset, often because they did not scan the code and misunderstood the intent. She emphasized the campaign was done in good spirit, noting, "Our country is full of bad news, so what else is left but to laugh a little?"

The singer explained the idea stemmed from her personal background as visually impaired and her desire to stand out in a crowded music market. Mizrahi described her journey from singing backup for other artists and performing in store announcements to now singing on balconies. She sees the fake ticket stunt as a way to ensure people notice her music, stating, "No one wants to ignore a ticket, and this will help me reach an audience."

Despite some backlash, Mizrahi expressed no regrets and invited fans to suggest ideas for promoting her next song. The campaign highlights the challenges new artists face and the innovative methods they employ to gain recognition in Israel's competitive music scene.
