Likud MK Moshe Saada Acknowledges Netanyahu Decides on Justice Minister Appointment

The story · English

Moshe Saada, a Likud member of Knesset who secured the 11th spot in the party's recent primaries, spoke on 103fm radio about his aspirations for the next government. Saada expressed interest in the coveted Justice Minister role, stating he would put himself forward due to his deep understanding of the system and ability to lead change. However, he acknowledged that ultimately, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has the final say in the appointment.

Reflecting on his primary results, Saada noted he is not deeply rooted in the Likud grassroots and admitted to limited familiarity with the party's base. Despite this, he believes his professional work and honesty have earned him significant respect among voters. Meanwhile, Avishai Greenstein publicly declared he would never vote for Saada, labeling him a "dangerous narcissist."

The Justice Minister position has been a source of disappointment among Likud members, particularly regarding incumbent Yariv Levin's performance. MK Tali Gottlieb has also announced her intention to seek the role, but it appears unlikely Netanyahu will grant her request due to her harsh criticisms of him following the primaries. Gottlieb accused Netanyahu's circle of attempting to undermine her candidacy by discouraging party members from supporting her.

The developments highlight internal tensions within Likud as the party prepares for government formation, with Netanyahu maintaining control over key ministerial appointments despite competing ambitions within the party.
