Golani Brigade Soldiers Complain About Excessive Walking in 40-Degree Heat to Reach Mess Hall

The story · English

Soldiers from the 51st Battalion of the Golani Brigade have raised concerns about the challenging conditions at the Pilon base near the Sea of Galilee. They report having to walk six times daily between their living quarters and the mess hall, a route that includes steep climbs and is often undertaken in temperatures reaching around 40 degrees Celsius. While the soldiers make this journey on foot, they observe that commanding officers travel by vehicle.

The soldiers say the demanding schedule, intense heat, and physical strain lead many to skip proper meals or spend significant amounts of money ordering food from outside, creating a heavy financial burden for conscripts. One soldier emphasized pride in their service but stressed that basic logistical support, such as easier access to meals, is essential for maintaining soldiers' health and welfare.

The soldiers have reached out to media to raise awareness and seek appropriate responses from relevant authorities. The IDF spokesperson was asked about the issue but had not responded at the time of reporting.
