One-Pan Oven Meal Combines Salmon, Sweet Potato, and Green Beans for Quick Balanced Lunch

The story · English

A growing trend in home cooking emphasizes preparing a complete, balanced lunch in a single oven dish, saving time and reducing cleanup. This recipe features juicy salmon fillets paired with golden sweet potatoes and crisp green beans, offering a colorful plate rich in protein and vitamins.

To serve 3-4 people, the ingredients include four fresh salmon fillets, two medium peeled and cubed sweet potatoes, and two cups of tender green beans. The salmon is marinated in a simple mixture of olive oil, Dijon mustard, silan (date syrup) or honey, crushed garlic, salt, and pepper, which balances tanginess and sweetness. The vegetables are seasoned with olive oil, coarse salt, black pepper, and mild paprika.

The cooking process begins by roasting the sweet potato cubes at 200 degrees Celsius for 15 minutes to ensure they soften properly. While the sweet potatoes bake, the marinade is prepared and generously applied to the salmon. After the initial roasting, the green beans and salmon are added to the baking tray, which returns to the oven for a final 12 to 15 minutes. This timing keeps the salmon tender and juicy, the sweet potatoes caramelized at the edges, and the green beans crisp.

Key tips include avoiding overcooking the salmon, which is done when it turns light pink and flakes easily with a fork. Thicker fillets may require an additional 2-3 minutes of baking. The recipe is flexible, allowing substitutions such as broccoli, zucchini, or asparagus for green beans, and regular potatoes or cubed pumpkin for sweet potatoes.

The dish is served hot directly from the tray, combining quality protein, complex carbohydrates, and fiber-rich vegetables with minimal effort and kitchen mess, making it an ideal quick and nutritious lunch option.
